39 Sugarloaf Rd, Risdon Vale TAS 7016

This affordable home in Risdon Vale, Tasmania was inspected by our Hobart based Building Inspector Kirt this week.  Like many homes in the area it is a neat, vinyl clad property.

Vinyl Cladding may also be referred to as plastic or pvc cladding and its often used in place of weatherboards due to its durability.     It’s also a really affordable building product which suits the lower purchase price properties of this nature.  We often come across this material during building inspections across Hobart.

It’s a great product because it doesn’t rot, termites (not that they are problem in Tasmania!) won’t eat it, its light weight which makes it easy to transport and install.  It also comes in an array of colours which are part of the plastic itself so there is no painting maintenance to worry about.

Our Building Inspection Reports in and around Hobart may provide some limited guidance on insulation (if its present or not) but on its own, vinyl cladding is not the best insulating building material.  Over time this material may also crack and fade, although it tends to last longer in Tasmania than it does in other locations exposed to longer durations of high temperatures and sun.
